West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) Next Generation Internship Program (NGIP) 2024

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) stands as a beacon of capacity building and development effectiveness for non-governmental organizations across West Africa. With a steadfast commitment to fostering the growth of civil society organizations, WACSI has unveiled the Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP), a pioneering initiative since January 2008. This programme is meticulously designed to nurture the emerging talents of African scholars and professionals in the early stages of their careers, providing an unparalleled opportunity for practical, hands-on experience in the realm of civil society development.

Targeting the vibrant youth of West Africa, including recent graduates and early career professionals, the NGIP offers a unique six-month immersion into the heart of WACSI’s operations. Interns will gain invaluable exposure to critical areas such as leadership, program management, and the pressing developmental issues confronting the region. By participating in WACSI’s diverse range of activities, interns will not only contribute to but also enhance their skills in Capacity Development, Policy Influencing and Advocacy, and Knowledge Management, thereby laying a solid foundation for their professional futures.

The NGIP is a fully funded internship, with WACSI generously providing round-trip airfare, furnished accommodation, weekday lunches, and a monthly stipend. Applicants are expected to hold a minimum of a first degree in fields relevant to WACSI’s mission, such as international affairs, political science, public policy, law, or development studies, and exhibit a keen interest in the management of civil society and non-profit organizations. The selection process will prioritize candidates who demonstrate proficiency in English, French, or Portuguese, alongside a working knowledge of another of these languages. The internship, hosted in Accra, Ghana, extends from July to December 2024, with a closing date for applications set for May 26, 2024. Aspiring applicants are encouraged to seize this remarkable opportunity to advance their professional capabilities and contribute to the strengthening of West African civil society by visiting the West Africa Civil Society Institute’s application portal on hris.peoplehum.com.
