The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, is proud to announce the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program (MCFSP at KNUST). This prestigious initiative is dedicated to fostering the growth of academically gifted yet financially underprivileged students from Ghana and across Africa, by providing them with comprehensive access to high-quality tertiary education.
This unique program goes beyond mere financial assistance; it integrates a suite of support services including mentoring, cultural transition aids, and community engagement activities. These are designed to ensure not just the academic success of the scholars, but also to prepare them for impactful roles in their communities and the broader African continent. The ultimate aim is to nurture a cadre of ethical, transformative leaders poised to drive positive change and advance social and economic development across Africa.
Key Highlights of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at KNUST:
- Scholarship Benefits: Scholars will receive full funding covering tuition fees, on-campus lodging, learning materials, transportation, and a monthly stipend. The program also offers personal and professional development through group meetings, academic mentoring, leadership congresses, community service opportunities, and internships, amongst others. Successful undergraduates may also have the chance to pursue an accelerated Master’s Degree with an MCF Partner institution in the USA.
- Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must possess the requisite academic qualifications (WASSCE/GBCE/ABCE/GCE) and meet KNUST’s admission criteria. Critical economic needs, a record of leadership, and community engagement are essential. Candidates currently enrolled in tertiary institutions are not eligible. Special consideration is given to females, displaced individuals, and persons with disabilities.
- Application Process: The application deadline is May 31, 2024. Prospective scholars should apply through the Mastercard Foundation portal on mcf.knust.edu.gh, and submit their application forms along with the required documents to the Program Manager at the specified address.
