Look no further than the Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) Programme taking place in the United States in 2024. This fully-funded scholarship opportunity is open to all Africans who are currently enrolled in secondary school and are interested in pursuing higher education or making a difference in their communities as leaders.
YYAS is an intensive academic and enrichment program that brings together young African scholars to learn from Yale professors and other experts in various fields. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in leadership training, college counselling, and cultural activities. Additionally, the scholarship covers tuition, meals, and accommodation.
To be eligible for the 2024 YYAS Programme, applicants must be at least 14 years old by the application deadline, citizens or permanent residents of an African country, and currently attending school in Africa. They must also be in their 11th grade or international equivalent and able to participate in a rigorous academic curriculum conducted in English. If you are graduating from secondary school in the Northern Hemisphere, it must be by the latest May/June 2024. If you are graduating in the Southern Hemisphere, it must be by the earliest November/December 2023 and no later than November/December 2024.
To apply for the scholarship, interested applicants must fill out the application form found online and complete one 500-word essay and two short responses. They must also provide information regarding their extracurricular activities and the school they currently attend. Applicants must attach an official transcript or grade report and obtain one teacher recommendation. The application deadline is on 25th January 2024.
