University of Waikato International Excellence Scholarship 2024-2025

The University of Waikato in New Zealand is proud to offer the International Excellence Scholarship to exceptional international students from eligible countries enrolling for the first time in undergraduate or postgraduate programs. The scholarship is available for all subjects and is awarded to candidates who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and potential to become global ambassadors for the University of Waikato.

The scholarship is offered annually, and there is no deadline for applications. The scholarship is worth up to NZD 10,000 and will be applied directly to the recipient’s tuition fees for their chosen program of study, either at the time of offer or once their enrolment is completed. The amount offered will be based on criteria such as, but not limited to, total available funding, grades, financial need, number of credits enrolled, number of applicants, and period of enrolment.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be citizens of one of the eligible countries and classified as overseas students. They must not currently be enrolled at the University of Waikato and must be applying to enrol in an undergraduate or postgraduate program as a new student. Additionally, they must have met the University of Waikato’s English language requirements for admission or have an offer for the Certificate of Attainment in Academic English at the University of Waikato before beginning any studies through UOW.

Applicants should submit a personal statement explaining their career goals, how an international education experience can help them achieve those goals, and what additional qualities or skills they possess make them an ideal candidate for the scholarship and an ambassador for the University of Waikato.
