UNESCO/APCEIU Youth Leadership Workshop on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) 2024

The Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) is dedicated to empowering youth by offering a dynamic platform for dialogue, idea sharing, networking, and fostering mutual understanding on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and youth advocacy to drive positive changes towards a culture of peace on various levels. Since 2015, the Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED, organized by APCEIU in collaboration with partners such as the GCED Youth Network, has been an annual event. This year’s workshop, themed “Youth Voices for Transforming Education through GCED,” will be held online from April 29th to May 10th for a total of ten days. It welcomes youth leaders who are passionate about promoting global citizenship through education to engage in active discussions and share experiences with like-minded individuals worldwide. Graduates of the workshop will have the opportunity to access grants and mentorship for their future initiatives.

The UNESCO/APCEIU Youth Leadership Workshop offers numerous benefits to participants, including an intensive and interactive one-week online workshop with international experts and fellow youth leaders, the chance to network with youth leaders globally, invitations to APCEIU’s international forums, workshops, and networks of youth and educators, as well as the valuable opportunity for mentorship and a grant of up to $1,000 for selected winners to support their follow-up initiatives. To be eligible for the workshop, 50 youth leaders actively involved in GCED from Official Development Assistance (ODA) recipient countries and the Republic of Korea are sought. The selection process involves various components, including a workshop orientation on April 29, 2024, a pre-workshop study from April 30 to May 3, 2024, and the online live workshop from May 6 to 10, 2024, featuring lectures, interactive activities on GCED, and sharing of youth advocacy initiatives on GCED with international experts and peers. The workshop also includes a grant competition in May 2024 exclusively for workshop graduates, followed by mentorship and project implementation from May to October 2024 for selected winners. The application deadline for this exciting opportunity is April 14, 2024. To apply, interested individuals can follow the guidelines provided by APCEIU and submit their applications before the deadline to be considered for this enriching experience.
