These scholarships are not limited to students with outstanding academic performance. TUM offers a variety of grants to students at all levels of study, including standard scholarships, travel stipends, grants for studying abroad, and additional allowances to cover the printing costs for theses and dissertations.

The scholarships are available for students at all degree levels, and both domestic and international students are eligible to apply. However, the target group is regular international students who are enrolling in a study program at TUM. To be eligible for the scholarship, students should not be eligible for BAföG due to their nationality and must have completed their bachelor’s degree from TUM or be in their third semester of their bachelor’s studies, or their second semester of their master’s studies.

The application process is simple. Applicants are expected to have been admitted to the university and enrolled properly as a student of the school. After acceptance, all admitted freshman applicants are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships, so no separate application forms or interviews are necessary. Applicants are required to submit a motivational letter, CV/resume, TUM grade report, two recommendations, proof of their income, proof of their parent’s income or proof of income of spouse (if applicable), and any other document depending on the program applied for.
