The 2024 award will provide a total grant of USD 700,000 for the three finalists. This amount is divided among the winning initiative (which may receive up to USD 350,000) and the two runners-up and is paid in instalments over two years.

In addition to financial support, all three finalists will receive tailored non-financial support, including technical advice from Swiss Re employees and staff from participating organizations such as AXA, PharmAccess and Philips, training, advisory, and data-gathering. The finalists may also be eligible for follow-up funding from the UBS Optimus Foundation.

To be eligible for the award, social enterprises must operate in low-income or lower-middle-income countries, serve at least 20,000 people, and have the potential to reach at least 100,000 people in the next two years. The applicant’s customer base must consist of at least 30% low-income populations and should have a deep understanding of the specific circumstances of the people they serve. Preference will be given to gender-inclusive enterprises that strive to reduce gender inequalities.
