Romanian Government Scholarship Program – International Students 2024


The Romanian Government, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, offers scholarships to citizens of non-European Union (EU) countries. To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must have good academic records with an average score of at least 7 (seven), which corresponds to the scoring system in Romania. The Bachelor’s degree program is open to high school graduates or those who have completed pre-university studies and obtained a baccalaureate degree or equivalent, as well as candidates who want to further their university studies in Romania. The program lasts for three to six years, depending on the specialization followed, and culminates in a bachelor’s exam. Master’s degree programs are open to undergraduates and last for one to two years, ending with a dissertation exam. Doctoral programs are open to graduate students and last for three to five years, ending with the presentation of a PhD thesis. Candidates must obtain the written agreement of the Doctoral Tutor, who must be a member of the doctoral school, and pass an admission interview before submitting their application.

The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation expenses in the dormitories, and monthly financial aid. The monthly financial aid is €65 for undergraduate and preparatory year students, €75 for master’s students, and €85 for PhD students. To receive the monthly financial aid, students in the preparatory year, undergraduate, and master’s programs must obtain a minimum of 60 transferable credits at the end of each academic year.

To apply for this scholarship, candidates must have completed their studies in accredited/recognized education institutions in their home countries, comply with the enrollment deadline, and follow the application submission methodology. They must also create an account on the Study in Romania platform, fill in the requested data, and upload the required documents, which include copies of diplomas, transcripts, birth certificates, and passports. The application deadline is March 16, 2024, and applications can only be submitted online via the studyinromania.gov.ro platform.
