The Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Essay Competition (CAANEC) for 2024, proudly supported by Oyo State & FCT secondary school boards, alongside esteemed organizations such as MWAN, NCS, ARCON, POSON, and DHF, is inviting senior secondary school students across Nigeria to participate. This initiative, driven by the Patela Care Foundation in partnership with various stakeholders, seeks to raise cancer awareness, promote advocacy, and encourage research among young scholars.
The competition not only offers students a platform to express their ideas and solutions regarding cancer prevention but also enables them to contribute positively to their communities. The rewards are substantial, with the winner from each region (Oyo State & FCT) receiving N150,000.00, the first runner-up N120,000.00, and the second runner-up N100,000.00. Additionally, all participants will receive a Certificate of Good Effort in electronic format, along with access to PCF’s cancer control health education platforms.
To enter the CAANEC essay competition, students must be currently enrolled in senior secondary school, submit a handwritten essay of at least 500 words, alongside a passport photograph, a copy of their birth certificate or National ID, and their contact information. Submissions open on April 29th, 2024, and close on May 31st, 2024. Winners will be announced in July of the same year.
