The McGill University Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program aims to support academically talented individuals from this region in accessing high-quality university education. The program provides the necessary support to ensure that these bright young minds succeed.

The scholarship is open to postgraduate students who have never registered for or completed any graduate studies. Applicants must be citizens of and reside in a Sub-Saharan African country, possess a valid passport, and be admissible to Canada as an international student. Those with dual citizenship, asylee, refugee, or permanent resident status in the US, Canada, UK, or EU are not eligible. Additionally, applicants must be less than 35 years old at the time of application.

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must have an exceptional record of service and activity in their school and/or community. They must also have an intent to return to their country immediately upon the completion of their degree and contribute to the social and economic development of their community.

To apply for the scholarship, interested applicants should first apply for admission into any of the eligible non-thesis programs at McGill University. After applying for admission, applicants can then proceed to submit an online application for the scholarship. The application deadline is December 01, 2023.
