Looking for a rewarding career opportunity that makes a difference in the lives of others? Join the Housing Services team at the City of Ottawa! We’re seeking compassionate, driven individuals to fill multiple casual positions for our Family Shelters and Physical Distancing Centres. As a member of our team, you’ll use your strong interpersonal skills to provide support and services to families, couples, and individuals experiencing homelessness.

To qualify for this role, you’ll need a high school diploma and at least one year of related experience in a social service setting. A community college diploma or university degree in a related field is desirable. You should also know community resources, issues affecting homeless persons and families, and the City of Ottawa’s shelter system and supporting agencies. Additionally, you’ll need current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates, and a Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate is an asset.

As a member of our team, you’ll be a positive role model, able to manage potentially volatile situations and prioritize multiple tasks in an organized fashion. You should be flexible, adaptable, and able to work independently or as part of a team with limited supervision. You should also have strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite. This role works in a high-risk setting, so all employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination as a condition of employment by the City’s Mandatory Vaccination Policy.
