Attention all PhD and Master’s degree students in economics or related fields! Are you looking for an opportunity to gain professional experience at a prestigious international financial institution? The International Monetary Fund’s Internship Program (FIP) may be the perfect fit for you!

During this 10-12 week paid internship, you will work under the guidance of an experienced IMF colleague to conduct research and analysis on a topic determined by the Fund. Your research may culminate in a research paper that may be published internally. The internship will be located in person at the IMF headquarters in Washington DC, between June and September 2024, and the specific dates will be agreed upon between you and your IMF supervisor at the time of offer.

To be eligible for the FIP, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be within one to two years of completing a PhD in macroeconomics or a related field if you are a PhD student, or completing a Master’s degree in macroeconomics or a related field if you are a Master’s student.
  • Be in student status at the time of the internship if you are a PhD student.
  • Be below the age of 32 at the commencement of the internship if you are a PhD student, or below the age of 28 if you are a Master’s student.
  • Have an excellent command of English, both written and oral.
  • Possesses strong analytical, quantitative, and computer skills.

To apply, submit a completed application form with responses to all questions, a personal CV/Resume, and a recent transcript for the university program in which you are currently registered, showing your current status and recent grades. The application deadline is February 15, 2024. Only candidates who are identified for further consideration will be contacted by a FIP recruiter.
