The Hornby Educational Trust has partnered with the University of Exeter to offer postgraduate scholarships for the MEd TESOL programme. The scholarship is open to men and women from low or middle-income countries, who have a minimum of three years’ full-time TESOL teaching or related professional experience after their first degree. Applicants must also hold an undergraduate degree (with grades equivalent to UK upper 2nd class honours or higher) or a relevant postgraduate degree. The scholarship covers full fees, a stipend of at least £15,500 spread over monthly payments, and return international travel costs.
The deadline for the scholarship application is March 1, 2024. To apply, interested individuals must first complete the University of Exeter application form for admission to the MEd TESOL programme. Once they receive an Exeter student number, they can then complete the Hornby Scholarship application form, which requires them to upload a cover letter of no more than 800 words. The letter should respond to the following question: In your context, what are the key challenges that you, and other teachers of English, typically face daily? How would studying the MEd TESOL at the University of Exeter help you to respond to these challenges? How do your skills and expertise make you a suitable candidate for the Hornby Scholarship?
The Hornby Trust is delighted to be working with the University of Exeter to deliver these scholarships and all applicants will be jointly considered by the University of Exeter and the Hornby Trust. Please note that this scholarship is only available for study on the University of Exeter’s MEd TESOL programme and is not available for PGCert or PGDip programmes of study.
