Georgetown University Full Masters Scholarships – Sub-Saharan African Students 2024


Georgetown University offers a unique opportunity through the Global Human Development Program, a two-year full-time Master’s degree. The program is designed to provide a skills-based curriculum that incorporates experiential learning opportunities. The program offers core courses that cover economics of development, international political economy, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, finance and budgeting, and management.

A full tuition scholarship is available to a GHD student from sub-Saharan Africa. In addition to the curriculum, students apply the skills and knowledge they are learning in the classroom to professional work experiences. These experiences include a summer field project, an internship at a relevant Washington DC-based international development organization/agency, and the capstone project.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must have at least one year of experience working in international development, with a minimum of two years of professional experience preferred. Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree before enrollment.

Applicants should also have completed courses in introductory macro- and microeconomics and statistics. The ability to function effectively in English and one other language is also required. Applicants are recommended to have several years of experience living, studying, and working abroad.

To apply for the scholarship, applicants must provide an online application, personal statement, supplemental data sheet, official transcripts and test scores, and three letters of recommendation. The scholarships will be awarded based on the overall strength of the application. The application deadline is January 15, 2024.
