Fully-Funded Yenching Academy Masters Fellowships – International Students 2024

The Yenching Academy of Peking University offers a unique opportunity to pursue a Master of Arts in China Studies with a curriculum that covers six broad categories: Literature and Culture; History and Archaeology; Philosophy and Religion; Politics and International Relations; Economics and Management; and Law and Society. The fully-funded residential program provides interdisciplinary courses on China within the Humanities and Social Sciences. Yenching Scholars have the flexibility to create their study paths by choosing from six research areas and a variety of extracurricular activities while working closely with their academic mentors.

The Yenching Academy Masters Scholarship provides a generous postgraduate fellowship covering tuition fees, a travel stipend for one round-trip journey between each Scholar’s base city and Beijing, accommodations, and a monthly living stipend. For international scholars, the fellowships are for 12 months, with the option to extend for a second year in Beijing. During the second year, students may apply for a limited number of Teaching, Research, or Administrative Assistantships.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any field, a strong interest in interdisciplinary study of China, and a record of extracurricular achievement, community engagement, and social responsibility. Successful applicants will show how the Yenching Academy program is relevant and valuable for their career plans. English proficiency is also required, with minimum scores in IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English Scale, CET 6 or TEM 4.
