The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan, is excited to announce the launch of the 6th edition of the prestigious ‘Fisayo Soyombo Essay Competition’. This annual event calls for solution-driven essays that delve into significant national matters, offering a unique opportunity for you to contribute your insightful perspectives.

The Union of Campus Journalists Essay Contest is not just about showcasing your writing skills; it’s an opportunity to voice your ideas and potentially influence strategies to combat corruption in Nigeria. This is your chance to instigate change and inspire others with innovative approaches to a longstanding issue.

The essay topic for 2024 is “BLESSED YET IMPOVERISHED: HOW CAN NIGERIA SOLVE ITS CORRUPTION ISSUES?” Your challenge is to explore this critical issue and propose innovative solutions to one of Nigeria’s most pressing problems. The first-place winner will receive N250,000, the second-place winner will receive N150,000, and the third-place winner will receive N100,000.

To apply, you must be an undergraduate student in a Nigerian university. Your essay should be between 1500 and 2000 words and formatted in Times New Roman font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. Email your entry to [email protected], including your essay and a copy of your school ID in separate PDF files. Ensure the subject of your email reads “FISAYO SOYOMBO ESSAY CONTEST.” The application deadline is January 31, 2024.
