E-JUST TICAD8 African Scholarships for STI

The Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) has announced the E-JUST TICAD8 African Scholarships for STI, a program aimed at developing high-quality human resources in the field of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) towards a future African STI network and beyond. These scholarships are a result of the cooperation between the Egyptian government and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

E-JUST Masters Scholarship

The E-JUST TICAD8 scholarship program is a fully funded scholarship that covers tuition fees, accommodation, monthly stipend, medical care, and international flight fares (round tickets; from and to the applicant’s home country). This scholarship is open to researchers or instructors (or potential candidates) who need to obtain an M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in the fields of Science or Engineering or other specialization.

Requirements for E-JUST Masters Scholarship

Applicants must be holders of nationalities of countries in Africa except for Egypt and have a current home address in an African country. They must not be serving in the military and should fulfil all of the admission requirements and pass the academic interview and oral examination. Furthermore, applicants who will continue their jobs in their home universities or institutions after completing their postgraduate program at E-JUST are preferable. In this case, endorsement of the application forms by their home institutions is required to ensure they would return to their home institutions in the future.

Documents Required for Application

Interested applicants should attach the following documents (scanned copies) to the online application form. Once the applicant passes the interview, he/ she will be required to submit certified hard copies to E-JUST (certified by the Egyptian embassy): research proposal, statement of purpose, CV, B.Sc. Certificate and B.Sc. Transcript, B.Sc. Graduation Project, M.Sc. Certificate and M.Sc. Transcript, summary of M.Sc. thesis, M.Sc. Thesis, two academic recommendation letters, international TOEFL 79/Academic IELTS 6.5, personal data passport page, personal photograph (formal photo), certificate of health (E-JUST designated form), security application (E-JUST designated form), and endorsement letter (for currently employed TAs/ Researchers…etc.). All credentials submitted must be in English, or an official translation must be attached to the documents originally not issued in English.

Application Deadline and How to Apply

The application deadline for the E-JUST TICAD8 African Scholarships for STI is February 10, 2024. To apply, interested and qualified candidates should go to the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) website and click on “Apply now” available through the international admission tab. Fill in the online application and attach all of the required documents.

Scholarship Term

The scholarship’s term is the period necessary to complete the degree requirements in E-JUST, which should be two years for the M.Sc. degree in addition to six months of preparatory courses (if necessary) and three years for the Ph.D. degree. The scholarship’s support is dependent upon the student’s good standing with the E-JUST graduate program in which he/she is registered. An evaluation progress report will be sent semi-annually to the sponsor reporting about the student’s study level, including the student’s transcript, academic advisor report, and the updated student research situation. Scholarships are full-time scholarships; this means that E-JUST students are fully devoted to their study and research in E-JUST and are not allowed to work elsewhere during their scholarship period.
