Corona Management Systems (CMS) Malaria Modelling Fellowship for Nigerian public Health Professionals 2024

Mathematical modelling plays a crucial role in understanding and controlling infectious diseases by employing mathematical equations to describe how these diseases spread among populations. Through these models, researchers gain insights into disease transmission dynamics and the impact of various prevention strategies.

The Malaria Modelling Fellowship (MMF) seeks to enhance the mathematical modelling capabilities of public health professionals in Nigeria. Supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), this initiative is a collaborative effort involving Corona Management Systems (CMS), the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and the World Health Organisation (WHO). The fellowship curriculum covers Malaria & Epidemiology, Mathematical Modelling with a focus on mathematical tools and programming language usage, and Project Management & Evidence Translation, which includes essential soft skills such as scientific writing.

The CMS Malaria Modelling Fellowship is fully funded and offers logistical support for fellows to participate in both physical and online sessions. Special assistance is provided for female fellows with children under 18 months. The fellowship aims to increase the number of skilled mathematical modellers specializing in malaria within Nigerian institutions, strengthen the modelling capacity of the NMEP for strategic planning and evaluation, and support the advancement of modelling approaches in disease control. Applicants will undergo an online aptitude test on February 24, 2024, accessible from any internet-enabled location within a 24-hour window. If you are interested and qualified, visit the Corona Management Systems (CMS) website at to apply for this unique opportunity.
