The Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for its esteemed PhD Fellowships for the year 2025. As a collaborative effort involving eight African universities, four African research institutes, and eight non-African partners, CARTA is dedicated to enhancing the research capabilities of African institutions to address global health and development challenges effectively.
The CARTA PhD Fellowship program offers a unique opportunity for individuals to enhance their skills and knowledge over four years through a series of Joint Advanced Seminars (JASes). These seminars cover essential topics such as critical thinking, data management, scientific writing, and professional development. Fellows will receive various benefits, including participation in advanced seminars, a monthly stipend, research support, a laptop with relevant software, conference attendance funding, and training program support.
To be eligible for the CARTA PhD Fellowship, applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field, be affiliated with a participating African institution, and have a research proposal related to public and population health. The selection process includes submission deadlines in April and June, with fellowship decisions announced in November. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact the CARTA focal person at their institution for application materials and further details.
