Attention all African Deeptech startups! This is your chance to make a positive impact on the world. If you have developed an MVP and are experiencing early traction, the BRAIN program is for you. BRAIN, which stands for Bridging Research and Innovation, is a comprehensive program aimed at stimulating deep tech innovation in Africa by providing access to world-class opportunities for scientist-entrepreneurs who are solving fundamental concerns.
Conducted by Open Startup International in partnership with MIT Legatum Center, MIT Executive MBAs and MIT Africa, the program supports 20 Pan-African Deep Tech startups to attend a one-week regional boot camp in Cairo, Egypt. This boot camp is co-developed with experts from MIT and the African innovation ecosystem to provide tailored mentorship and support while competing to be among the finalist teams who will have immersion visits in different ecosystems.
The MIT Legatum African Deeptech startup Grant is available for entrepreneurs who meet the program’s requirements. Your startup must be incorporated into the African continent and have a strong Deep Tech innovation based on scientific research. Your startup should also be in or near the MVP stage, demonstrate a path towards intellectual property (IP), demonstrate early traction, and have started securing initial grants or funds. Your startup should also be aimed at scaling internationally.
