ABH, short for Africa’s Business Heroes, is on a mission to recognize, empower, and motivate the upcoming generation of African entrepreneurs who are actively contributing to their local communities, tackling critical challenges, and fostering a more sustainable and inclusive economy for the future. This initiative is designed to be inclusive, welcoming entrepreneurs from all African nations, industries, and age groups, provided their businesses are officially registered and based in an African country with a minimum of a three-year operational history.
Each year, the program selects ten finalists to compete in the ABH finale pitch competition, which will be showcased in a TV show broadcast both online and across the continent. These finalists will vie for a portion of the US $1.5 million grant fund. The rewards for winners and finalists are substantial, with the 1st prize winner receiving $300,000, the 2nd prize winner securing $250,000, and the 3rd prize winner earning $150,000. Additionally, other top 10 finalists will each be granted $100,000 along with a $100,000 Global Immersion Program opportunity in Hangzhou, San Francisco, and South East Asia.
Beyond the financial rewards, ABH offers an array of benefits such as exposure through the ABH show, training at Alibaba’s headquarters, mentorship from industry leaders, and networking opportunities with entrepreneurs from all 54 African countries. To be eligible for this life-changing opportunity, applicants must fulfil specific requirements, including being a founder or co-founder of the company, holding African nationality, having a business based in Africa, and demonstrating a track record of at least three years in operation. The selection process is rigorous, focusing on criteria like vision, market traction, leadership potential, and social impact.
