The TWAS Awards (previously known as TWAS Prizes) provides nine awards of USD 10,000 each in the following fields: Agriculture, Nutrition & Food Systems Sciences; Biological Sciences; Chemical Sciences; Earth, Climate & Environmental Sciences; Engineering & Computer Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; Medical & Health Sciences; Physics, Astronomy & Space Sciences; Social Sciences. A plaque accompanies the award and is usually presented on a special occasion, often coinciding with the General Meeting of TWAS.
To be eligible for the TWAS Award, candidates must be scientists working and living in a developing country for at least ten years immediately before their nomination. They must meet at least one of the following qualifications: scientific research achievement of outstanding significance for the development of scientific thought or an outstanding contribution to applying science and technology to sustainable development.
Nomination for the TWAS Awards can only be made electronically through the online platform. The extended deadline for receiving nominations is March 31, 2024. We strongly recommend that you do not wait until the deadline but submit the nomination as early as you can to enable us to process it as quickly as possible.
