The esteemed Wallonia-Brussels International is now inviting applications from exceptional and qualified postdoctoral candidates to partake in its prestigious Excellence Grants Programme. This initiative, designed for both Long-term and Short-term scholarships, aims to foster academic collaboration and research innovation by integrating foreign researchers into the academic milieu of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation’s Universities.

Funded by Wallonia-Brussels International and hosted across various esteemed institutions within the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, this programme offers a comprehensive Full Research Grant to a multitude of awardees. It is open to international students at both the Doctoral and Postdoctoral study levels, ensuring a wide-reaching impact.

Detailed Insights into the Wallonia-Brussels International Excellence Grants Programme:

The programme is meticulously structured into two distinct segments: Long-term scholarships, offering a minimum duration of one year with the possibility of renewal, and Short-term scholarships, lasting from one to three months without the option for extension. Interestingly, candidates currently in an ongoing term without doctorate certification can still apply, provided they submit proof of achievement by specific deadlines depending on the scholarship type.

Eligibility extends to researchers of any nationality with a doctorate from a foreign university, seeking to engage in postdoctoral programmes at higher education institutions recognized or subsidized by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

Beneficiaries of the programme will enjoy a monthly stipend of 2,120 euros, covering living expenses, accommodation, educational materials, and domestic travel. Moreover, Wallonia-Brussels International generously covers international travel costs, as well as healthcare insurance for non-EU fellows and repatriation assistance insurance for long-term scholarships.

Application Process:

Prospective applicants should prepare their application in a single PDF file, not exceeding 10 MB, and email it to the programme manager. The application must include a completed form, a declaration of additional funding, a minimum of two reference letters, a letter of invitation or agreement from the host institution, and copies of relevant diplomas.

For those aiming for a Long-term scholarship, applications must be submitted no later than March 1st. Meanwhile, deadlines for Short-term scholarships vary based on the intended stay period.

For more detailed information and to embark on this exciting academic journey, applicants are encouraged to visit the official Wallonia-Brussels International website.
