The UNWTO Youth in Tourism Innovation Challenge offers a $1,000 grant seed for the winner, a $500 grant seed for the first and second runners-up, complimentary enrollment for short courses provided by UNWTO, mentorship, partnership, potential funding support, and career opportunities. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to join an established network of African youth in Tourism Mentors and Innovators.
To qualify, you must be a youth in Africa, with an age limit of 35 years. Competitors are required to show a demo or Minimum Viable Product (MVP) during the presentation. The challenge opens on November 1, 2023, and the closing date is March 1, 2024. The adjudicators will shortlist the top 5 on March 22, 2024, and shortlisted project promoters will be informed on March 29, 2024. Mentorship for elevator pitches (12 hours) will be provided from April 10 to May 16, 2024. The submission of shortlisted project promoters will take place at the Summit on May 15, 2024. The top 3 will be announced on May 31, 2024. Winners and runners-up will be announced at the ATLF Awards in Gaborone, Botswana, in October 2024.
