University of Exeter Hornby Trust Scholarship - Developing Countries 2024

The Hornby Education Trust is dedicated to advancing English language teaching in low- and middle-income countries. To achieve this, the Trust offers Master’s degree scholarships to teachers and related professionals with relevant experience and the potential to make an impact in their home countries.

The University of Exeter, in collaboration with the Hornby Trust, is offering up to ten fully funded scholarships for the MEd TESOL Programme for September 2024 entry. The scholarships are available to academically talented and experienced applicants who are nationals of and work in low- and middle-income countries as defined in the OECD DAC list.

The scholarship covers full fees, a stipend of at least £15,500 to cover accommodation and living costs, and return international travel costs. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum of three years of full-time TESOL teaching or related professional experience after their first degree, hold an undergraduate degree or relevant postgraduate degree, and have submitted a normal postgraduate application to the University of Exeter for the MEd TESOL programme.

The application deadline for the scholarship is March 1, 2024. Applicants will be notified if they have been shortlisted for an interview no later than April 15, 2024, and interviews will be held during the weeks commencing April 29 and May 6. Successful applicants will be notified of the outcome no later than May 22, 2024.

To apply, applicants must first complete the University of Exeter application form for admission to the MEd TESOL programme, and once they have obtained an Exeter student number, they can complete the Hornby Scholarship application form.
