Are you a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in the field of STEM? Look no further than the OIST Research Internship Program! This program, offered by the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, provides short-term placements ranging from 2 to 6 months in length. During this time, students have the opportunity to work in a specific laboratory or learn a particular technique, all while contributing to the research activities of OIST.

Interns will work under the direction of a Professor and will receive a daily allowance of 2400 JPY (with weekends excluded, and the allowance being taxable). Additionally, OIST provides a fully paid round-trip air ticket, a free shuttle bus pass, and fully furnished apartments on or off campus. OIST will also assist with visa acquisitions, insurance procedures, and local registration.

To apply, students who are in the final two years of their undergraduate or master’s program in Japan or overseas can submit their application through the OIST website. Applicants must also provide a Curriculum Vitae Sheet, a 400-word Personal Statement, Academic Transcripts (in English translation, if required), a Recommendation Letter, and an ID Photo.
