At the heart of our mission to bridge the gap in educational inequality, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship. This initiative is designed to unlock the untapped potential of women in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Importantly, applicants do not need to be MPOWER borrowers to be eligible. So, why hesitate?
MPOWER is devoted to nurturing high-potential individuals from around the globe to achieve their educational dreams, thereby paving the way for the next generation of leaders in science and technology. This scholarship is specifically aimed at women who aspire to use their STEM degrees to make meaningful contributions to society and our environment. Moreover, it seeks to support those who can inspire and advocate for female representation in STEM disciplines.
Despite women achieving 32 per cent of STEM degrees in the U.S. as reported by the National Center for Education Statistics, funding remains a significant barrier for many aspiring female scientists and engineers, particularly in fields such as computer engineering, nuclear science, and software development. This challenge is compounded by the findings of the Society of Women Engineers, which highlight stark gender disparities in engineering and computer science. MPOWER’s CEO and co-founder, Manu Smadja, views these disparities not just as statistics, but as a call to action to ensure women have the opportunity to equally contribute to shaping the future of science and technology.
