GEEP, in collaboration with the Taiwan Ocean Conservation Administration (OCA), is excited to announce the 2024 Youth Innovation Challenge (YIC): Advancing Marine Conservation! This initiative invites young individuals aged 15–30 from across the globe to present their groundbreaking ideas aimed at safeguarding marine environments. This year, the challenge focuses on addressing critical marine issues such as biodiversity loss, and marine debris, and increasing public awareness, fostering a global community of proactive environmental stewards.

Benefits:
Participants will have their proposals assessed by experts at the nexus of environmental education and marine conservation. Fifteen finalists will be chosen, each receiving an official YIC finalist certificate and recognition across various platforms including GEEP’s and its global partners’ websites and social media. Out of these, three winners will be selected to receive a $1,000 prize each, and an invitation to the prestigious YIC award ceremony at the Taiwan OCA’s marine debris conference in Taiwan in September 2024, with all travel expenses paid.
Eligibility and Requirements:
The challenge seeks proposals from young leaders who can offer innovative solutions in areas such as marine biodiversity protection, marine debris management, and public-private collaborations. These solutions should integrate environmental education effectively to ensure sustainability and impact. Applicants must submit a video pitch (3 minutes max) and provide detailed responses illustrating how their ideas will tackle specific marine conservation challenges innovatively and feasibly.
