DAAD and the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI) have partnered to offer up to three In-Country and six In-Region scholarships for Master’s studies at WACCI for the intake of 2024. This scholarship is open to both men and women in Sub-Saharan African countries who have completed their first academic degree with above-average results and are passionate about crop improvement. Female applicants, refugees with recognized refugee status, and candidates from other less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate in the program.
The scholarship covers tuition fees annually, study and research allowance annually, and printing allowance once at the end. The scholarship also includes a monthly allowance of 500 EUR for In-Country PhD candidates and 550 EUR for In-Region PhD candidates, which covers accommodation, food, and other related expenses. Additionally, In-Region candidates will receive a travel allowance twice, at the beginning and end of the scholarship, and health insurance during their studies.
To apply, interested candidates should complete the DAAD application form, which is available on the DAAD portal, and submit it before the application deadline of November 23, 2023. Other required documents include a curriculum vitae, one recommendation letter by university teachers, a letter of admission for the host institution, certified copies of university degree certificates, a letter of motivation, and a copy of their passport or national identification card.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about crop improvement and want to further their education in this field.
