The Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens is elated to announce the third instalment of the Youth AgriChampions Initiative – an immersive Peer2Peer workshop series aimed at fostering climate resilience within the agricultural sector. This unique program is designed to convene approximately 15 dynamic young individuals from the grassroots levels of smallholder farming and agricultural entrepreneurship across Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Zambia. Participants will have the invaluable opportunity to share their firsthand experiences and innovative strategies for adapting to climate change within their farming practices.
Scheduled for July 2024, the workshops will serve as a platform for these young leaders to craft a compelling youth demand paper. This document, emphasizing “locally-led adaptation for smallholder farming,” aims to influence global policy by capturing the attention of high-level political forums, with the advocacy and support of Ban Ki-moon, BKMC co-chair and the 8th Secretary-General of the UN.
Key Highlights of the Youth AgriChampions Initiative:
- Empowerment through Recognition: Participants who complete the workshop series will be honoured with certificates endorsed by Ban Ki-moon, symbolizing their contributions and integrating them into the prestigious BKMC Youth AgriChampions Alumni Network.
