The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program is an initiative of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs aimed at attracting top foreign students to enrol in master’s and PhD programs at French higher education institutions. The program aims to train future foreign decision-makers in priority areas of study in both the private and public sectors. It is open to applicants up to 25 years old from developing countries for master’s level and up to 30 years old from developing and industrialized countries for PhD level.
The scholarship offers monthly allowances of €1,181 for master’s level and €1,700 for doctoral level, in addition to direct services such as international airfare, domestic travel support, insurance, assistance in seeking housing, and cultural activities. The scholarship is awarded for the academic year corresponding to the call for applications, and the funded study period must begin between September 1 and December 31 of the year in which the scholarship is awarded.
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet certain requirements, including being a foreign national, not having French nationality, and only applying through French educational establishments. The program applies to master’s courses, including at an engineering school, and for PhD students. It does not apply to training under an apprenticeship contract or a professional training contract. Applicants must also ensure that their level of French is sufficient to enable them to integrate satisfactorily into the anticipated course.
The application deadline for the French Government Eiffel Excellence Scholarship is on January 10, 2024. To apply, interested applicants can contact the Campus France office in their country of origin or the Cooperation and Culture Office of the French Embassy. They may also visit the French educational institution or research organization’s website or email or telephone its office of international relations to learn how to apply for admission and inform them of their wish to be considered for an Eiffel scholarship. It is the applicant’s responsibility to choose the school or university that best suits their plans to study or conduct research in France.
